ARMED FORCES A ROTTING ONION

THE ROTTING ONION: ARMED FORCES
by Pankaj Bhagwati

It is while the sitting in the MH besides my mother, did I decide to write this WhatsApp article. I have deliberately put my name on the article as I am fed-up with anonymity.....makes me feel like a coward!! 21 years in the Army and having had the good fortune of facing bullets and Near-death experiences several times in life.... should I logically be scared of the Army hauling me up for voicing the truth?

BETRAYAL BY INDIRA - ARMED FORCES

Breaking: What Was The Biggest Betrayal by Indira Gandhi to our Armed Forces???Tuesday, 14 Aug, 2.59 pm

After the 1971 war, the entire country was rejoicing and celebrating the win of India over Pakistan. This war was considered one of the greatest which changed the geography of the sub continent. The war which earned the title Durga to Indira Gandhi! The armed forces were feted everywhere and appreciated for their impeccable service and courage. Although our country lost 4000 soldiers and 10,000 were wounded and scared for life, the pain was masked in the victory of the country. They had to co
ntinue their life in the forbidding world.

SPIRITUALITY & RELIGION

WE OFTEN CONFUSE BETWEEN RELIGION AND SPIRITUALITY
(THERE IS WORLD OF A DIFFERENCE)

A learned man was once asked to explain the difference between Religion and Spirituality. His response was profound:

▪ Religion is not just one, there are many.
▪ Spirituality is one.

BONUS ARMY - WW-1 US-VETERANS WHO MARCHED FOR PAY

BONUS ARMY (US-VETERANS)

The Bonus Army was the name applied a group over 17,000 U.S  WW1 veterans who marched on Washington, D.C. during the summer of 1932 demanding immediate cash payment of the service bonuses promised to them by Congress eight years earlier.

WHY THE BONUS ARMY MARCHED
Most of the veterans marched on the Capitol in 1932 to protest against the World War Adjusted Compensation Act of 1924 promised to them, but not until 1945 -- a full 27 years after the end of the war they had fought in. Something like the OROP and downgrading of the military protocol being junked by successive Indian Govts. False promises.

IAS - INDIA'S ARROGANT SERVANTS (TOI)

No matter how good a minister is if the bureaucracy is unaccountable India will remain a developing country.https://blogs.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/reclaiming-india/the-insufferable-attitude-of-ias-india-s-arrogant-servants/
The insufferable attitude of IAS – India's Arrogant Servants
June 1, 2013, 12:57 AM IST Shantanu Bhagwat in Reclaiming India | India | TOI
Last week, I came face-to-face with insufferable arrogance. The kind that makes you wonder what props it up; the kind that is almost impossible to believe unless you face it yourself. Last week was my turn to face the reality of a Mai-Baap Sarkaarand its "Officers". It was particularly galling because I was not really expecting it.

VEDAS - SO QUOTED IN GURU GRANTH SAHIB

Guru Granth Sahib unequivocally considers Vedas to be the word of Supreme. This is for those who hate Sikh Gurus because of some handful treacherous Khalistanis. This must reach all Khalistanis, Pakistanis and Guru haters.

Here are 52 verses from Guru Granth Sahib Ji about the glory of Dharma and Vedas

PRODIGY - TRUE STORY OF A PIAONO TEACHER

TRUE STORY..
At the prodding of my friends I am writing this story.  My name is Mildred Honor. I am a former elementary school Music Teacher from Des Moines, Iowa.

I have always supplemented my income by Teaching Piano Lessons...Something I have done for over 30 years. During those years, I found that Children have many levels of musical ability, and even though I have never had the prodigy, I have taught some very talented students. However, I have also had my share of what I call 'Musically Challenged Pupils.

SOLDIER'S HONOUR WEAKENS - FACTORS

Civil-Military Relations: Let's Not Weaken the Corporate Character of Our Forces

*_Indian military gives great value to the concept of honour. If officers and men feel under-privileged it could weaken this edifice. Putting out tweets and spending time with soldiers are great gestures but not enough to assuage the angst._*
 *Lt Gen (Retd) DS Hooda*

Two groups are today dominating discussions about civil-military relations in India. The first group is the veterans who continue to protest over the definition of OROP. Recent images of soldiers and their wives being pushed and shoved into police vans has again brought into focus their long-standing demand. The second is a group of junior officers from the services who think that their career interests have been ignored and have gone to the Supreme Court. Grant of NFU to the military is another case pending in the same court.

MEDICINES - DO THEY REALLY EXPIRE

Friends, please read in your own interest.
*****************************************
Do Medicines Really Expire or Are we taken for a ride?
By Richard Altschuler
A FAMILY OF DOCTORS IN ENGLAND & IN MUMBAI HAVE BEEN HAMMERING THIS
POINT THAT MEDICINES DON'T EXPIRE.

Does the expiration date on a bottle of a medication mean anything?
If a bottle of Tylenol, for example, says something like "Do not use after June 1998," and it is August 2002, should you take the Tylenol? Should you discard it? Can you get hurt if you take it? Will it simply have lost its potency and do you no good.

HOW CAN FORCES BE RELEVANT IN INDIA

HOW CAN DEFENCE FORCES BECOME RELEVANT IN MODI'S INDIA?
The number one Law of Power is "never outshine the master judgement." This is enumerated in a bestselling and widely read book, "The 48 Laws of Power (1998)", by American author Robert Greene.
Why have the defence forces become so powerless in our country in spite of wielding most of the weapons? It is common to hear in the gathering of the armed forces officers that the bureaucrats have marginalised the defence forces and that their status is being eroded continuously. The forces also complain against the politicians for their lack of knowledge about the military affairs and their apparent distrust of defence forces. It is assumed that the politicians are gradually reducing the relevance and status of defence forces to emphasise civilian control and to preclude any chance of military takeover of the government.

HAPPY OLD AGE ?

HAPPY OLD AGE
Amidst the gloom & doom scenario, Happiness seems to be from a different world. But old age does and can bring happiness: Ike
Jonathan Rauch reports in his book The Happiness Curve, published in May. Life satisfaction appears to follow a U-shaped course, with its twin peaks in childhood, when the world is one great theme park, and in old age, when we've been on all the rides a thousand times and are perfectly content just to watch. It's in the middle—our 40s and 50s, when our power, potential and productivity are the greatest and we should be feeling our happiest—that life satisfaction bottoms out.

EVOLVEMENT OF THE METERIC

How Metric system evolved in France, now it sets a world standard: Iyer

Originally established to preserve international standards, the BIPM - The International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM).
